William F. “Bob” Thorne, age 74 of Volga, WV, died on Friday June 20, 2014 at Davis Medical Center in Elkins, WV. He was born June 5, 1940 in Barbour County, a son of the late Walter L. and Lucille Evix Thorne. He was united in marriage December 5, 1982 to Shirley L. McDaniel Thorne who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by: One step-daughter: Victoria L. Rehe and husband Michael of Boyce, VA Four grandchildren: John Michael Rehe, Kelsie L. Rehe, Jordan N. Rehe, and Christian Rehe all of Boyce, VA. Four sisters: Rose Foster and husband Charles of Buckhannon Shirley Shreves and husband Arvel of Parma, OH Helen Joan Starcher of Astabula, OH Carolyn Sue Karicoff of Buckhannon. Mr. Thorne was preceded in death by one sister: Imogene Huffman and two brothers: Ronald L. Thorne and James L. Thorne. Mr. Thorne served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Thorne was a retired well tender with Eastern Energy. He was protestant by faith. There will be no funeral home visitation. A graveside service is scheduled for 12 noon, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the WV National Cemetery at Pruntytown, with full military rites being accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Davis Medical Center, Cancer Foundation, Elkins, WV.
