Obituary of Emma Smith

Emma Pauline (Casto) Smith age 96 a resident of Mansfield Place and former resident of Jenny St. Philippi passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014 in United Hospital Center. She was born June 12, 1918 in Barbour Co. a daughter of the late Hoy and Addie (Callahan) Casto. She was twice married, first to Stuart A. Jack and secondly to Leslie D. Smith both who have preceded her in death. Surviving is, Two daughters, Helen Lantz and husband Scott of Buckhannon Kathryn McVicker and husband Mack of Philippi One son, Stuart Edward Jack and wife Wanda of Philippi One sister, Eleanor Miller of Buckhannon One brother, Robert Casto and wife Eileen of Volga Nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren Ms. Smith was preceded in death by 8 siblings, Hersel Casto, Lucille Bailey, Charles Casto, William Casto, Kenneth Casto, Vera Overfield, Hazel Ward and an infant brother. She was a waitress for Kines Restaurant, homemaker and cleaned houses She was a member of the Barbour Co. Senior Center and Word of Life Church of God Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 2-8 pm and on Sunday, November 30 from 8 am-12:30 pm at which time Ms. Smith will be moved to Word of Life Church of God to lie in state from 1-2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Joe Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Hampton Cemetery in Buckhannon.
