Helen Pearl Jones age 82 a resident of Rt. 3 Philippi passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 in United Hospital Center. She was born February 15, 1929 in Barbour Co. a daughter of the late Holbert and Reba (Queen) Gouer. She was united in marriage December 27, 1948 to Richard E. Jones who preceded her in death June 7, 1991. Surviving are, Five daughters, Leona Carpenter and husband JR, Moundsville Frances L. Jones, Philippi Carol Haught and husband Bud, Moundsville Jackie Linger, Buckhannon Betty Garber and husband Phil, Philippi Three sons, Richard Jones and wife Pam Eddie Jones and wife Lorinda Scott Jones, all of Philippi One sister, Betty Thrasher, Philippi Three brothers, Joe Gouer and wife Beverly, Philippi Charles (Gene) Gouer and wife Lindy, Clarksburg Robert (Bob) Gouer and wife El, Utah 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Ms. Jones was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnn Jones; one sister, Elloween Gouer and one brother, JR Gouer She worked as a Nurse's aide at Myer's Clinic and was a cook at Kines Restaurant and Philippi Inn. Ms. Jones was Methodist by faith. She loved caring for children, grandchildren and collecting hugs and kisses. She enjoyed camping, outdoors and music and she was an avid flower gardener. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday February 22, from 5-8 pm, Wednesday, February 23, from 8 am-8 pm, Thursday, February 24, from 8 am-2 pm the service hour with Rev. David Maley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hunt Memorial Cemetery.
