Delores P. Kennedy age 78 a resident of Rt 1 Philippi, Indian Fork Community, passed away, Friday, August 12, 2011 at her residence. She was born May 5, 1933 in Moatsville a daughter of the late Isacc and Ethel (Mitchell) Haddix. She was united in marriage in 1951 to Olof T. Kennedy who proceeded her in death January 23, 1998. Surviving is, Daughters, Jane (Thomas) MacDonald, Ellsworth, Maine Sons, Donald Kennedy, Rt 1 Philippi, WV Rev. Ronald D. (Diana) Kennedy, Edinboro, PA William Kennedy, Rt 3 Philippi, WV Stephen E. (Dawn) Kennedy, Rt 1 Philippi, WV David L. Kennedy, Philippi, WV 18 Grandchildren, and 16 Great Grandchildren Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by five sisters, Elsie Isner, Ruth Wilson, Norma Humphrey, Myrtle Upton, and Betty Edens, and three brothers, William, Calvin, and Howard Haddix. Mrs. Kennedy was a Dental Assistant with the Barbour County Health Department. She enjoyed working at the election poles, and was a senior companion for the senior center of which she was a member. Mrs. Kennedy was a member Mt. Vernon Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 12:00-8:00 pm and on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 8:00-12:00 pm at which time she will be moved to the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church to lie in state from 1:00-2:00 pm the service hour with Rev. Ronald D. Kennedy, and Rev. Linda Payton officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
