Blaine Ralston Corder age 87 a resident of WV Veterans' Nursing Facility of Clarksburg and former resident of Rt. 1 Meadow Heights, Philippi passed away Friday, February 10, 2012. He was born November 8, 1924 in Barbour County a son of the late Laco B. and Roxie (Eckels) Corder. He was united in marriage May 15, 1947 to Jo Claire (Hardin) Corder who preceded him in death on December 3, 2007. Surviving are; 2 sons, Bennie Corder and wife Cathy Jason Corder and wife Brenda, both of Philippi Seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Corder) Ball, Brian Corder, Eric Corder, Allison Corder, Ethan Corder, Tayla Thomforde and Cody Hockenberry. Three great-grandchildren, Logan and Hailey Ball and Astaire Thomforde Mr. Corder was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Mason Todd Corder; one brother, Laco Rankin Corder and one sister, Rhea Rose Corder. He was a retired music teacher with 41 years of service having taught in Dublin, VA, Braxton, Taylor and Barbour County Schools. Mr. Corder served in the US Army during WWII from 1946-1947. He was a member of the Philippi Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post #44, AARP, Retired Teachers Association and the Barbour County Farm Bureau. He loved tuning piano's, hunting and fishing. Mr. Corder was a member of Philippi Baptist Church, where he was an ordained Deacon, and past Sunday School Teacher. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday February 11, from 5-8 pm and on Sunday, February 12 from 8 am-8pm and on Monday, February 13 from 8 am-1 pm the service hour with Rev. Jon Villers officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with military honours being accorded.
