Anna Rose Bowers, age 80, a resident of Rt. 1 Beech Lick Rd. Philippi passed away Thursday July 12, 2012 in the United Hospital Center. She was born August 1, 1931 in Barbour Co. a daughter of the late William Eyster and Alberta (Skidmore) Shaffer. Anna Rosewas twice married first on May 30, 1957 to Eldridge Sigley who preceded her in death on July 9, 1990 and second on September 19, 1975 to John Rex Bowers who preceded her in death on March 18, 1989. Surviving are: Two daughters, Linda Mitchell and husband Rodney of Philippi Carol White of Buffalo , NY Step- daughters, Barbara Ann Sams and husband Merrold of St. Cloud Minn. Teena Ro gers and husband James of Girard, OH Sandra Brannon of Brookfield, OH Step son, John Bowers and wife Denise of Lumberport, WV Two grandchildren, Mandy (Mitchell) Sisson, and Andrew White Two great grandchildren, Tyler and Trevin Sisson Anna Rose was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Shaffer and Dorman Skidmore She retired as a cook from Philip Barbour High School. She was a member of the Brushy Fork CEOS, Elk City United Methodist Women, Elk City United Methodist Church. Anna liked to crochet and quilt. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday July 14, from 5-8 pm and on Sunday July 15, from 8 am - 2 pm the service hour with Rev. Linda Payton officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Sunday July 15, 2012, 2 pm at Wright Funeral Home Click for Map and Directions
