Cecil E. Hathaway, 73, of Champion, OH passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Cleveland Clinic on Saturday afternoon, July 14, 2012 following an extended illness. He was born on July 12, 1939 in Arden, WV the son of Clarence and Dora (Poling) Hathaway. Cecil married his sweetheart the former Ruth Ann Allen on June 17, 1959 and they moved to the Warren area shortly thereafter. He will be sadly missed by his wife of more than fifty-three years, Ruth Ann of Champion; two sons Skip Hathaway and his wife Trudy of Bristolville, OH, and Jeffrey Hathaway of Champion, OH; two sisters Shirlean Allen and Sylvia Jean Isner and her husband Ronald all of Champion; two brothers Hollie Hathaway and his wife Lucille of Champion, and Harold and his wife Clara Louise of Leavittsburg, OH; and by his three grandchildren Shannon Smith and her husband Brian, and Brian and Cory Hathaway; and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Delmas Hathaway. Mr. Hathaway was employed by Sainato Motors for more than twenty-nine years. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, gardening, working on cars, and traveling to various flea markets and auctions. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians as well as N.A.S.C.A.R. and had also enjoyed collecting Zippo Lighters. Cecil was also a member of Moose Lodge #1012 in Cortland and had attended Beacon of Hope Baptist Church in Warren. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday July 18, from 6-7:30 pm and on Thursday July 19, 12- 2 pm the service hour with Rev. Gary Hennessey officiating. Interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery.
