Obituary of Duard Gene Hardin
Duard Gene Hardin, Sr., age 82, a resident of Rt. 1 Kasson Community Moatsville, passed away Saturday September 15, 2012 in the United Hospital Center. He was born November 24, 1929 in Kasson, WV a son of the late Thomas Hugh and Goldie Belle (Kelly) Hardin. Gene was united in marriage on June 11, 1950 to Berneda (Haddix) Hardin who survives. Also surviving:

Sandy J. Bender and husband Rev. Kevin of Salem
Son: Duard Gene Hardin Jr. and wife Regina of Moatsville
Sister: Peggy A. Parsons and husband Ernie of Parsons
Grandchildren: Bill Dumire and wife Teresa, Bradly Dumire and wife Jaime, Joshua Dumire, Christina Compton and husband Ben, Kevin Bender and wife Amanda, Christopher Hardin and wife Tegan, Thomas Hardin and wife Brianna, Olivia Hardin
Great grandchildren: Natalie and Megan Dumire, Austin, Rylee, and Hailey Hardin, and one expected grandchild November 22, Ava Bender.
Gene was preceded in death by two sisters: Jo Claire Corder, and Betty Ann Poling.
He served in the US Army from February 1, 1952- February 8, 1954 during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. Gene worked as a laborer during the building of the Berryburg Tunnel and the Grafton Lock and Dam, he then moved to Baltimore MD. to work as an assembler in an Automobile Assembly Plant, after moving back from Baltimore he worked as a mechanic for Iden Buick in Philippi, and was a service manager for Kines Motor Co. until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and making pies. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Gene was a member of the Kasson United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday September 17, from 4-8 pm and on Tuesday September 18, from 8 am - 1pm the service hour with Rev. Kenny Kendall and Rev. John Flynn officiating. Interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery with Military honours being accorded.
