Obituary of Delmus Croston
Delmus Jimmy Croston, age 71, a resident of Moatsville, WV passed away peacefully at his home on May 6, 2013 following an extended illness. Delmus was born on January 16, 1942 in Philippi, WV to the late Carol Evelyn and Ethel May Croston. In the following years, Delmus met Alta Marie (McCartney) Croston and married on April 4, 1975. He is survived by his wife of Moatsville.
Delmus has five children, one son Jimmy Dale Croston of Indiana, four daughters Kathy Jean Croston Mayle of Philippi, Sabrina Lynn Croston and husband Wendall Croston of Flemington, Julia Ann Croston and husband Johnaton Croston of Moatsville, and Desiree Dawn Croston of Moatsville.
Delmus’ loving family provided him with many grandchildren. Nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, in the surrounding area. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Carolyn Troyer, Lorena Croston, and a brother Ervin Croston.
Delmus was a hard worker. He worked at National Iron Metals in Canton, OH until his retirement.
Delmus was passionate about the outdoors. He loved working in the garden and decorating his yard to make it look beautiful. He visited the hospital to encourage the sick and he was very creative when it came to decorating his vehicles. He was a Christian by faith and everyone he spoke to he would preach the word of God. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday May 7, from 5-8 pm, Wednesday May 8, from 8 am- 8 pm, and on Thursday May 9, from 8 am – 2 pm the service hour with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery.
