Obituary of Virginia Lea Edge
Virginia Lea Edge, age 90, a resident of Moatsville, more recently a resident of The Good Samaritian Society of Barbour County Belington WV went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday October 21, 2019. She had been in declining health. Virginia was born on August 7, 1929 in Nestorville, WV the daughter of the late Hoy Alonzo Auvil and Effie Marie Phillips Auvil.
Surviving are three sons; John W Edge and wife Carol of Moatsville, WV Matthew L Edge of Moatsville, WV David B Edge and wife Sarah of Pine Grove PA
Sister Dianna Cline and husband Gerald of Philippi, WV.
Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews.
Proceeding her in death are her former husband, W. Wayne, Bud, Edge, sisters Pearl Wilson, Jemima Hovatter, Shirley Rinker, Vonda Nestor and brothers, Hoy Junior Auvil, twin infant brothers Roy and Troy Auvil. Infant son William Irving Edge.
Virginia was a homemaker, loved cooking, gardening, quilting and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed singing hymns and silly songs which were quite entertaining to all who heard her. She loved helping other and was a very giving person. Virginia was a member of the New Beginnings Church and Phelps Homemakers of Moatsville.
She earned her GED at the age of 51 making herself and her family very proud of this accomplishment.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Cremation, 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday October 23, from 4-8pm. On Thursday October 24, at the New Beginnings Church 17272 Morgantown Pike, Moatsville, from 9 -11 am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am with Rev. Kenny Kendall and Pastor Gary Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Morris Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings Church, 17272 Morgantown Pike, Moatsville, WV 26405 to further God’s Kingdom.
