Dorothy Louise (Poling) Daugherty, a long standing faithful member of the Philippi Church of Christ, went to be with her Lord, November 6, 2020, after an extended illness. She was born February 22, 1930. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Noel and Georgia (Andrick) Poling, She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Hugh C. Daugherty, and four sisters: Ruth Carter (Mac), of Philippi; Norma Jones (Ralph), of Philippi, Carol Schreckengost (Roy), Salamanca, NY Theressa Weidlich (Arthur) of Grafton. Surviving are five children: Barbara Daugherty, Philippi; Keith Daugherty (Cherita), Philippi, Vicki Kerns, Bridgeport, Matthew Daugherty, Las Vegas, NV; Beth Hanlin (Clyde Prieto) Clarksburg, Six grandchildren, Chris Daugherty (Matt), Philippi; Eric Daugherty (Tammy), Reader; Miranda (Kerns) Carpenter (Josh), Clarksburg; Jessica Kerns, Bridgeport; Josh Hanlin, Clarksburg; Noah Hanlin, Clarksburg, and seven great-grandchildren Also surviving are six siblings: Mary Burner (Bud), Marietta, OH; Noel Poling (Linda), Salamanca, NY; Virgle Poling (Sandy), Cyclone, PA; Donna Stevens (Raymond), Sierra Vista, AZ; Sharon Johnson (Davis), Asheville, NC; Nancy Peirce (Larry), Salamanca, NY Mrs. Daugherty was a member of the Sew-N-Sew’s Quilting Club and won many first place ribbons with her beautiful handmade quilts. She was instrumental in securing Municipal water to the Union Community and served as a President of Central Barbour Public Service District. She was a founder of the Union Community Improvement Association and served on the board for many years. She was a loving mother and wife and will be missed by many. The family as in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Potters Children Home 2350 Nashville Rd. Bowling Green KY, 42101. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday November 9, from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday November 10, from 8-11am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Evangelist Darrell Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery.
