Lula Mayle, age 73, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at the home of her daughter. She was born on November 22, 1947 in Barbour County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Blaine and Alta Croston. Lula was united in marriage to the late Columbus Mayle. Surviving are her two daughters, Rebecca Collins of Philippi, and Melissa Newman of Culpeper, VA, one son, Christopher Mayle of Philippi, one sister, Shirley Collins and husband Fred of Philippi She was blessed with seven grandchildren, J.D. Collins, Ashley Foltz and husband Josh, Jamie Walter and husband John, Aaron Newman, Kiara Newman, Kendall Mayle, and Issac Mayle, as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight sisters, and one brother. Lula was a homemaker and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, spending time with her family, taking long rides reminiscing, and getting her hair and nails done. She was Apostolic by faith and loved everyone. She would want everyone to know that she is now singing with the angles in heaven and wants you to meet her there one day. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday January 23, from 1-8 pm and on Sunday January 24, from 8am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Rev. Troy McCartney and Rev. Dottie Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery. Due to the Governor’s Mandate face masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services.
