Hazel Louise (Malcolm) Crites, age 75, a resident of Volga, WV passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 in the Davis Medical Center. Hazel was born May 15, 1945 in Braxton County, WV a daughter of the late Granville and Patricia (Dean) Malcolm. Hazel was united in marriage to her husband of 60 years, James H. Crites Sr. who survives at home. Also surviving is daughter, Tena Crites of Randolph County Sister, Sue Warner and husband Leroy of Buckhannon Brother, Melvin Malcolm of PA Niece, Thelma Kay Stout and husband Roger of Weston Hazel was preceded in death by son James “Jamie” H. Crites Jr., brother, Junior Malcom, sisters, Shirley Miller, Jean Mann, and Ann Isner. Hazel was a homemaker and was a cook at Broaddus Hospital, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and tending to flower beds. Hazel loved the outdoors, she enjoyed spending time with family at gatherings that she loved so dearly. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday January 27, from 12-2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Due to the Governor’s Mandate face masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services.
