Obituary of Dorothy Lee Griffith
Dorothy Lee Griffith, age 94, a resident of Montrose, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 in the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins, WV. Dorothy was born April 19, 1926 in Barbour County, a daughter of the late James D. and Leta (Burner) Crites. Dorothy was united in marriage on November 25, 1946 to Doyle Griffith who preceded her in death October 22, 2013. Surviving are daughters, Barbara Alkire and husband Ralph of Philippi

Dorothy was also preceded in death by brother, James Virgil Crites. Dorothy was a cook at Griffith’s City Restaurant, and was also a homemaker. She was a past member of the Dorcus Rebekah Lodge, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, tending to her flowers, and shopping. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Dorothy was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday March 22, from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday March 23, 8- 11am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jerusalem Church o/c Barbara Alkire 12602 Barbour County Highway Philippi, WV 26416. Due to the Governor’s Mandate face masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services.
