Roger Lee Hurst, Sr., age 72, a resident of Flemington, passed away Monday June 21, 2021 surrounded by his family. Roger was born February 3, 1950 in Barbour Co. a son of the late James Robert Hurst, step father Russel Nelson and Helen Louise (Love) Nelson. Roger is survived by his wife of 42 years Sue Neville of Philippi. Also surviving is- Children, Roger Lee Hurst Jr. and wife Brandy of Belington Michael Joseph Hurst and fiancé Tamika Bressler of Flemington Four grandchildren, Austin Lee Hurst and companion Rachel Cross, Elizabeth LeAnn “Apple” Hurst and companion Travis Starkey, Madeline Jolene “Mady” Hurst, RyLee Micah “RyRy’ Hurst Step grandson, Jackie Michael Bressler Great-grandchild, Natalee Rhea Starkey Roger was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Madeline Hurst and Linda Lizer; brother, Jerry Hurst. Roger was a collector and enjoyed dumpster diving with his friends, he liked bonsai trees and loved birds. He also enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, Roger loved riding motorcycles when he was younger, and hitchhiking rides. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday June 24, from 6-8 pm and on Friday June 25, from 8 am – 11am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. In honor of Roger’s request cremation will be honored following the services.
