Velma Marie Adams, age 68, a resident of Philippi, passed away Thursday June 24, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. Velma was born December 24, 1952 in Philippi a daughter of the late Isaac and Lillie (Poe) Kennedy. Velma was united in marriage on December 28, 1968 to Michael Adams who survives at home. Also surviving are; Daughters, Melissa Haddix and husband Timothy Melea Collins and husband Perry Erin Mayle and husband Brian all of Philippi Grandchildren, Michael Croston and companion Samantha Daugherty, Miles Croston and wife Johnna, Mercedes Graber and husband Steven, Mckenzie Branka and husband Derek, and Austin Nutter. Great grandchildren, Marley Graber, Maysa Croston, Summer Croston, and Arlington Branka Velma was preceded in death by brothers, Jeff Kennedy, Vulius Kennedy, Isaac Scott Kennedy, and sister, Cheryl Rae Kennedy. Velma worked as an in home service worker for Barbour County Senior Center, she enjoyed shopping and loved spending time with her family. Velma is a member of the Olive Hill Church. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday June 25, from 5-8pm and on Saturday June 26, from 8 am- 2pm. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Ron Jones officiating. In honor of Velma’s request cremation will follow the services.
