Nellie Ruth Auvil, age 82, a resident of the Lavender Fields Assisted Living in Beverly, WV and a former resident of the Brushy Fork Community, St. George, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 21, 2021. She had been in declining health for the past few years, although her death was unexpected. Nellie was born on September 18, 1938 in Tucker County, the youngest child of the late Clarence Auvil and Sarah (Poling) Auvil. Nellie is survived by her sister Sylvia L. Boyles of Philippi and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were six brothers, Wayne Auvil, Walter Auvil, Robert Auvil, John Auvil, Junior Auvil and Noble Auvil; and six sisters, Elnora Poling, Goldia Wilson, Laura Poling, Lyda Dumire, Pearl Wratchford and Caroline Poling. Nellie thoroughly enjoyed reading the Bible and making crafts. Nellie was an avid gardener and looked forward to planting her vegetable garden and flowers every year; until her health prevented her from doing so. Nellie was a member of the Brushy Fork Church of the Brethren for many years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday July 24, 2021, with a viewing from 11:00 am until the funeral at 1:00 pm. The service will be conducted by Rev. Sharon Brown. Interment will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery.
