Lewis Huff Bartlett, age 78, a resident of Philippi, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. Lewis was born September 5, 1942 in Philippi, a son of the late Donald and Helen (Huff) Bartlett. Lewis was united in marriage on August 14, 1964 to Linda (Shockey) Bartlett who survives at home with their beloved pet, Molly. Also surviving- Daughters, Teresa Childers and husband Ted of Quiet Dell Jennifer Bartlett and partner, Matthew Wilcox of Philippi Grandchildren, Jonathan Stock and partner, Julia Butler of Aloha, OR Tori Rainey and husband Kyle of Amelia, OH Tanner Lantz of Philippi Tyson Childers of Huntington Brother, Richard Bartlett and wife Nancy of Philippi Sisters, Beth Long of Parsons Leslie Sandridge and husband Jeff of Philippi Several nieces and nephews Lewis worked for the WV Division of Forestry as a Service Forester starting in 1965 until his retirement in 2002. Lewis was a past member of the Philippi Lions Club, the Gideon’s International, Barbour County Chapter and the BCBank Board of Directors as a Director Emeritus. He also served as a Chaplain for Mountain Hospice and was a member of the Silent Grove Church, where he served as an Elder. Lewis enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, and the solice of his farm. He was a faithful servant who read God’s word daily. He loved visiting others to share the gospel and was a frequent visitor in the hospitals, long term care facilities and in the homes of many elderly patients. His passion and calling in life was speaking to others about the love of Jesus. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday August 11, from 5-8 pm and on Thursday August 12, from 8-11 am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Pastor Bryan Headley and Pastor David Martin. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice 1002 S. Crim Ave. Belington, WV 26250.
