Wanda R. Thompson, age 88, a resident of Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation, and a former resident of Belington, passed away Friday October 1, 2021. Wanda was born March 17, 1933 in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Ersel and Perlina (Poling) Nestor. Wanda was united in marriage on January 20, 1952 to George J. Thompson who preceded her in death on March 23, 2007. Surviving is Four children, Lisa L. Murphy and husband Brian of Philippi Joyce Rhea Thompson and fiancé Robert Lynn Simmons of Belington Joseph Allen Thompson of Elkins Timothy LeRoy Thompson and partner Chesly Gump of Fairmont 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren Wanda was preceded in death by three sisters, she was a homemaker. Wanda was a member of the Corley United Methodist Church and also the Ladies Aide, also the North Central WV Emus Community. Wanda was the janitor for the church for over 33 years, she also volunteered whenever needed for the church. Wanda was a caring person she would always see that the church floral arrangement was taken care of when a church member had passed. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday October 4, from 4-8 pm and on Tuesday October 5, from 8am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Rev. Destry Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
