Curtis Eugene Poe, age 79, a resident of Clemtown Community, Philippi passed away Friday October 8, 2021 at his residence. Curtis was born September 7, 1942 in Barbour County a son of the late John and Louise (Ball) Poe. Curtis was united in marriage to his wife of 55 years, Betty J. (Revelle) Poe who survives at home. Also surviving is Son, Michael Poe of Pleasant Valley Three sisters, Lillian Beeson and husband John Smith of Pittsburgh, PA Lola Taylor of Grimsley, NC Joetta Taylor of OK Grandchildren, Shala Poe, Stephen Pride, and Casey Pride Great grandchildren, Korbin Starcher and Scott Michael Pride Curtis was preceded in death by daughter, Connie Bucklew, brothers, Jimmy Poe and Jack Poe Curtis worked for Thrasher Engineering as a civil engineer, and surveyor. He served in the US Army. Curtis was a member of the Elks Club in Clarksburg and Masonic Lodge in Clarksburg. He was an avid farmer, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday October 12, 2021 from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at 8 pm with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Cremation will follow the services for Mr. Poe.
