Losing a childhood friend is heartbreaking, but losing such a wonderful, kind person is a loss to many. One of my favorite memories involving Ron is a day of horseback riding.
Several of us from the community was out riding on the Briar Patch road, when all of a sudden the boy riding a smaller pony was hanging on for dear life. Being the ornery person that he was, Ron had loosened the kids saddle, So, when we started moving , the saddle turned as did the kid and all I remember is watching the pony trotting down that dirt road and the kid being sideways in the saddle and hanging on for all he was worth.
Needless to say, we all lost it!
Took us a while to convince that boy to get back on the pony.
