Tula Pearl Karickhoff Curkendall, age 96 years old, currently of Elkins and formerly of Volga, WV went to be with her Lord on Tuesday December 21, 2021 under the Hospice Care of West Virginia Caring. She was born November 8, 1925 in Upshur County and a daughter of the late Warrick and Maggie Karickhoff. On June 8, 1945 she married Henry “Ron” Curkendall and they resided in Volga for 68 years. A graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School, Tula retired as a postal worker in Volga. In 2019, Tula moved to Elkins to be closer to her daughter and family. She is survived by her daughter Linda Wagner and husband Norman, grandson Cory Wagner, granddaughter Lydia Jones and husband Grant, and precious great- grandson Max Jones. She is also survived by her last sister Oneita Powers, and special nephew Donnie Kincaid, who her family raised. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by six sisters, Audra Kincaid, Roxie Simons, Virginia Keller, Elsie Crider, Snow Dear Ward, and Deloris Smith, and one brother, Earl Karickhoff. Tula was an active member of Queen’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Volga, where she played the piano up until her move to Elkins at the age of 94. Tula enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Growing up on a farm, Tula had a strong work ethic and loved to clean. She could still be seen with her dust mop and dust rag at 96 years old, keeping her apartment in perfect condition. She was also known for her delicious peanut butter fudge and graham cracker pie. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Randy Simms officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt Vernon Memorial Mausoleum. Masks and social distancing will be required for those attending the visitation and funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Queens Chapel Church or charity of your choice.
