Obituary of Agnes Louise Ball

Agnes Louise (Murphy) Ball, age 89, a resident of Philippi, Clemtown Community, passed away Wednesday morning, December 29, 2021, at the WV Care / Hospice in Elkins WV following a period of declining health. Agnes was born November 12, 1932 in Barbour County, the daughter of the late Welsa Milton (Mike) and Eva Lena (Godwin) Murphy. She was united in marriage on November 10, 1952 to Kenneth Gene Ball who preceded her in death in 2012. Surviving are children, Richard Ball and wife Sharon, Deborah Johnson and husband, Ronnie, of Philippi, and Diana McGeehan and husband Tuck, of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Emily Ball Johnson, Amanda Ball, Christopher Ball and Tully McGeehan, and great-grandchildren Brooke Johnson, Audrey Johnson and Caleb Ball. Agnes was a graduate of Philippi High School where she was a majorette. She enjoyed music and in her later years learned to play bass guitar. She was a 36 year member of the Barbour County CEOS where she held several officer positions. She enjoyed basket weaving and quilting, and several other arts and crafts. She loved trying new recipes and was a wonderful cook. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory, 220 N. Walnut Street, Philippi on Friday, December 31, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 1, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the funeral hour, with Pastor Burl Haddix officiating. Interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery.
