Ralph Lewis Smith, age 92, a resident of Sawmill Rd. Buckhannon passed away at his residence on Thursday September 18, 2014. He was born January 28, 1922 in Norton, WV a son of the late Columbus and Ada (Stalnaker) Smith. He was united in marriage on July 10, 1948 to Genieve R. (Scheitlin) Smith who preceded him in death on July 28, 1998 Surviving are two sisters; Mildred Zimmerman Theresa Joy both of Baltimore, MD Nieces and nephews; Kenneth Smith and wife Deborah of Volga Tammy Ryan and husband Mark of Belington Eugene Smith and wife Diane of Rocky Gap, PA Gloria Pridemore and husband Jim of Houston, TX Great Niece; Antoinette Thiess of Baltimore, MD Several great nieces and nephews Foster grandchildren; Genieve Gissentaner, Loretta Jelks, Lawrence Jelks, Tommy Jelks Several great grandchildren Special friend Alberta Norris of Virginia Caregivers; Faye Markley and Mandy Sullivan Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers; Harold H. Smith and Kenneth Smith and foster daughter Penny Smith Mr. Smith retired from the B & O Railroad as a yard foreman. He served in the US Navy from 1942-1946. He was a member of the American Legion Post #96, he enjoyed playing bingo and attending various churches. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Sunday September 21, from 5-8 pm. Friends will be received on Tuesday September 23, at the Charles S. Zeiler and Sons Funeral Home 6224 Eastern Ave. Balitmore, MD from 9 am- 12 pm. Funeral service will be conducted at 12 pm. Interment will follow in the Holly Hills Memorial Gardens in Baltimore.
