Myrtle Irene Upton age 88 a resident of Talbott Personal Care Home and a former resident of South Main St. Philippi passed away Friday November 13, 2009 in Talbott Personal Care Home. She was born September 19, 1921 in Hammond, WV a daughter of the late Isaac R. and Ethel B. (Mitchell) Haddix. She was united in marriage January 27, 1962 to Robert Lee Upton who preceded her in death February 1, 1978. Surviving is; One daughter; Dorothy Ann and husband Ronald Phillips of Philippi One son; Lester David and wife Patricia Poling of Maryville, TN Three step-sons; Jimmy and wife Janet Upton of Philippi David and wife Jane Upton of Cleveland, OH Dennis R. and wife Lou Upton of Philippi One sister; Delores Kennedy of Philippi Special nephew; Paul and wife Sue Haddix of Midway Rd. Belington and several additional nieces and nephews Four grandchildren; Matthew and Justin Phillips, Lester David Poling Jr., Jamie Husky, Several step grandchildren Three great grandchildren; TJ Turner, Chloe and Gabryel Phillips Mrs. Upton was preceded in death by four sisters; Elsie Isner, Ruth Wilson, Norma Humphreys, Betty Edens, three brothers; William H., Calvin H., Howard D. Haddix. Mrs. Upton was a homemaker and attended the Faith Way Baptist Church. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday November 16, from 4-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday November 17, from 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. the service hour with Rev. Downing Gregory officiating.
