Layman C. Stevens, age 87, a resident of S. Main St. Philippi passed away Tuesday January 5, 2010 in Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital. He was born November 15, 1922 of Galloway a son of the late Clarence and LeAnn (Mayle) Stevens. Surviving is; Special friend; Sarah and Jerry Newman of Philippi Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by one brother; Clarence Stevens Jr. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Sentinal Mines. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday January 7, from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday January 8, from 8 a.m. -1 p.m. the service hour with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Flemington I.O.O. F Cemetery.
