Edison J. Shaw, age 81, a resident of Kasson Rd. Moatsville passed away on Wednesday June 3, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Edison was born June 4, 1933 in Kasson a son of the late Granville “Dee” and Belva “Blanche” (Poling) Shaw. Edison was twice married first to Lucille Jo Simmons who preceded him in death in 1980, and second on June 26, 1982 to Carol Lee (Amelung) Moore Shaw who survives. Also surviving is children Nancy Irwin and fiancée Charles Boing of Massillon, OH Gloria Shafer and husband Tom of Guilford Lake, OH Mike Shaw and wife Shelia of Kasson, WV Mark Shaw and wife Deb of Carrollton, OH Frank Moore and wife Cherie of Hillsboro, OH Joyce Barbe and husband Keith of Kasson, WV Timothy Moore and wife Natalie of North Benton, OH Edison was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren Sisters; Eslie Shahan Ann Lou Vanscoy both of Canton, OH Brother; Robert Shaw of OH Edison was preceded in death by one daughter Barbara Jean Shaw, brother John Edsil Shaw, two half-brothers, Virgil and Earnest Shaw and sister, Hazel Shahan. Edison retired from Timkin Roller Bearing Co. in Canton OH after 30 years of service. He served in the US Army. Edison attended the Kasson High School, he was a member of the Kasson Ruritan Club where he held several offices and weaved rugs for the club as well, and member Kasson United Methodist Church. Edison was a member of the Woodman of the World; he also assisted at the Barbour County Fair checking in the fruits and vegetables exhibits. Edison was an avid hunter, fisherman, farmer; he enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors. He also enjoyed camping and loved to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday June 6, from 12- 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 7 pm with Rev. Kenny Kendall and Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Edison will be moved to Rivertree Massillon Church 1600 Main Ave. W Massillon OH on Monday June 8, family will receive friends from 9am- 12 pm. Funeral services will be held at 12 pm with Rev. Lisa and Dave Burwell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton, OH.
