Helen Croston, age 88 a resident of Rt. 2 Philippi passed away Thursday February 4, 2010 in the United Hospital Center. She was born March 25, 1921 in Barbour Co. a daughter of the late Marion Frank and Masalona (Croston) Miner. She was united in marriage to Sherman Croston who preceded her in death in 1976. Surviving is; One brother; Rev. Winfield "Buddy" and wife Dottie Miner of Philippi Two nieces and caregivers; Sharlot and husband Jack Carper Arlina and husband Troy McCartney both of Philippi and several additional nieces and nephews Mrs. Croston was preceded in death by one infant son, five sisters; Irene Croston, Francis Croston, Rosalee Newman, Lillian Dalton, and infant sister, three brothers; Edward and Hoy Miner and infant brother. Mrs. Croston was a homemaker, she enjoyed working in her flowers, gardening, and cooking. She was a member of the Olive Hill Apostolic Church. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday February 8, from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday February 9, from 8 a.m. -1 p.m. the service hour with Rev. Dolly Smith and Rev. Charles Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery.
