Obituary of Glen Creed

Glen Ward Creed, 56, beloved grandfather, father and son, passed away at his home in Morgantown, WV on April 27, 2009. He was born September 15, 1952 in Dearborn, Michigan. He is the eldest son of Eleanor Smith Creed of Philippi, WV and the late John Willard Creed. His two children, John Warrick Creed and Angelynn Michelle Creed, both of Morgantown, survive Glen. A brother, Neil Smith Creed, of Volga, WV and a sister, Judy Creed White and husband Ted of Fuquay-Varina, NC, survives Glen. Glen’s much-adored grandchildren, Kayla Michelle Creed, Michael Johnathan Creed and Rosa Louise Morris, also of Morgantown, were encouraged by Glen to strive for high ideals and achievement in education, music and athletics. Also surviving are nieces Ashley Nicole Creed and Kelly Jo Creed and nephews Evan Taylor White, Jeremy Creed White and Nolan Shepard White. Glen was a contractor and used his carpentry skills to help build his parents’ business, Creed Enterprises. He was a very talented musician and songwriter, playing several instruments and writing many songs over the years. Glen was a member of various bands, including Snafu, Desperado and Reverend Creed. He attended Philip Barbour High School, Class of 1971. Glen was a friend to many people, always ready to lend a hand and help those in trouble. He was a voracious reader and loved to discuss philosophy, politics, religion and current events. Glen demonstrated an intense interest in equality and love for fellow human beings. A memorial service will be held at the Philippi Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 14, at 2:00 with Dr. Dan Unger officiating. Following the service, friends and relatives are invited to the Crim Memorial Methodist Church’s fellowship hall for an informal time to remember Glen through music and food. Please bring any instruments and music you would like to share. A piano will be provided.
