Obituary of Edward Murphy

Life Legacy Edward Leroy Murphy, age 80, a resident of Holbrooks Nursing Home, and a former resident of Volga passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016. He was born October 9, 1935 in Barbour Co. a son of the late Charles Edward and Theora Diamond (Thompson) Murphy. He was united in marriage on September 21, 1957 to Judith Lee (Cutright) Murphy who preceded him in death December 31, 1995. Surviving is One daughter; Shawna Murphy of Virginia Three sons; Brian Murphy and spouse Lisa of Philippi Brent Murphy and spouse Ingrid of Belington Brandon Murphy and spouse John Roberts of Martinsburg, WV Nine grandchildren; Karah Keener and spouse John, Britany Murphy, Raven Dabbs and spouse William, Jennings Critchfield, Barbara Nestor and spouse Nick, Eric Murphy, Mariah, James, and Savannah Murphy Great grandchildren; Gracie and Gage Keener, Amy Beohm, Diesel Farris, Liam Dabbs, Tyler and Payten Critchfield, Brayzen Hanifan, Kayden Beaty, Braylee Nestor and Teeghan Lackey Edward was preceded in death by sister; Bonnie Jean Boyles, He worked as a foreman for J.M Smucker’s Company in Orrville, Ohio, afterward he ran Murphy’s Slaughter House for several years, and later worked as a laborer for the WV Department of Highways. Edward served in the US Army from 1955-57, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and farming. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday February 27, from 5-8 pm and on Sunday February 28, from 8 am- 3 pm the service hour with Rev. Destry Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with military honors being accorded.
