Obituary of Dessie Auvil
Dessie Joretta Coffman Auvil age 91 a resident of Rt. 1 Moatsville, WV departed this this life peacefully with her family at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Fairmont, WV January 20, 1919 the eldest daughter of the late Clare Field Coffman and Eliza Grace (Nestor) Coffman.
She graduated from Kasson High School in May 1938. On October 25, 1938 she was united in marriage at Oakland, MD to Sammy "Ray" Auvil who preceded her in death September 14, 1987.

Jeannie J. Day and husband Frank, Philippi, WV
Two Sons; Clare T. Auvil and wife Carol, Thornton, WV, formally of Clinton, MD
Ronald R. Auvil, Moatsville, WV
Grandchildren; David A. Thompson, Jr. and wife Consuela; Cherly J. Thompson; C.J. Auvil and wife Jennifer; Becky Auvil Suddith and husband Mike; Kevin L. Zirkle and wife Anne; Justin F. Day and wife Sara; Austin T. Day; and Mathew R. Auvil.
Great-Grandchildren: Ryan, twins Olivia and Katelyn Zirkle; Devon and Rylie Thompson-Elutrio; Zachary Suddith, and Benjamin and Christian Auvil.

Dessie was preceded in death by three children, Edna Elaine Auvil and infants Violet and Roger Lee Auvil; three sisters, Anna Coffman; Icie Holler and Delphia Freeman; brother-and sister-in-laws, Woodrow Price, Junior Freeman, Clyde Canfield, Robert Holler, Clinton and Ruie Auvil, Emmit and Juanita Auvil, Dorthy Auvil and William Haddix.
She previously attended the New Hope Valley Church. She was a homemaker and a farmer who enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, needlework, gardening and spending time with her family. She was known for her thoughtfulness and love by her family.
Family and friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday March 2, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. and on Wednesday March 3, 2010 from 8-10:30 a.m. the service hour with Rev. Hobart "Bert" Coffman officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Dessie to Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter, 1111 Lee Street, East Charleston, WV 25301, Hospice Care 7 Harman Ct. Grafton, WV 26354, or New Hope Valley Church c/o Betty Kelly Rt. 1 Box 272 Moatsville, WV 26405. The family would like to thank Hospice Care and Home Health Care providers that took wonderful care of her in the later years.
