Obituary of Dona Queen
Dona Queen, age 101, a resident of Barbour County Good Samaritan, and a former resident of Locust Grove Community passed away Saturday July 23, 2016 in Broaddus Hospital. She was born March 27, 1915 in Barbour County a daughter of the late Doctor Franklin and Stella Josephine (Pifer) Bolyard and step mother Nettie (Combs) Bolyard. She was united in marriage July 15, 1944 to her husband of 58 years Arnett Queen Jr. who preceded her in death on April 4, 2003. Surviving is nieces and nephews

Dona was preceded in death by brothers Denver and Cloyd Bolyard, step-brother Wendal McCartney, sisters, Anna (Bolyard) Matlick, Gay Bolyard, Juanita (Bolyard) Bennett, nephews John Bolyard, nieces Stella Bolyard, Rose Ellen Whitehair.
She was a member of the Locust Grove United Brethren Church and was baptized in 1950 by Rev. Lonnie Armtrout and Rev. Bazal Bright. She was also a member of the Senior Organization, the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association, and the Sandy Creek CEOS club for over 29 years. Dona was a homemaker, she helped on the farm for several years, she liked to raise vegetables and flowers, and she canned and froze vegetables.
Dona believed that Jesus shed his blood for her sins, and believed the whole Bible. She still trusted in the Lord the best of her ability. Every Sunday Dona would watch and listen to Rev. Ressie Robinson with her beloved sister Anna Matlick.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday July 26, from 4-8 pm and on Wednesday July 27, from 8 am – 2 pm the service hour with Rev. Kenny Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
