Claris Marie McDaniel age 89 a resident of Wolf Run Philippi passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in United Hospital Center under the care of People’s Hospice. She was born April 19, 1928 in Arden, WV a daughter of the late Monzell Huff and Daisy Blaine (Moats) Mitchell. She was united in marriage October 11, 1947 to Wilbert “Wes” McDaniel who preceded her in death December 7, 2016. Surviving are- Two daughters, Janette Cross and husband Jeff of Philippi Barbara Ritter and husband Larry of Zelienople, PA One brother, Russell William Mitchell of Teter Lake Community Four grandchildren: Carmella Miller and husband Chris of Cranberry Township, PA; Derek Ritter and wife Kristen of Lower Burrell, PA; Amanda Lantz and husband Wes of Philippi and Cory Cross of Philippi Five great-grandchildren: Abigail Miller; Casen and Easton Ritter; Lane and Preston Lantz; and Wyatt Cross She was preceded in death by one grandson, Timothy Ritter; one sister, Minnie Reed and one brother, Ralph Mitchell Ms. McDaniel was a homemaker She was an avid reader and writer; collected Depression Glass, loved to quilt and she also loved flowers and animals. Ms. McDaniel was a member of Arden United Methodist Church and a graduate of Philippi High School, Class of 1947 Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday, August 11, 2017 form 3-8pm and on Saturday, August 12th from 8-11 am the service hour with Rev. Gary Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
