Dorsey Eugene Nicola, Sr., age 77, a resident of Moatsville, passed away on Wednesday August 30, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born April 5, 1940 in Kasson, a son of the late Homer and Dove (Poling) Nicola. He is survived by his beloved wife 52 years Laura Nicola. Also surviving is his grandson Dorsey A. Nicola III, who he had adopted and was raising Daughters, Laurynda (Nicola) Armstrong and her partner Paul Young, Katrina (Nicola) Schneider and her husband David Son, Dorsey Nicola Jr. and wife Lola (Lawson) Grandchildren DJ, Jennifer and Michael Armstrong, Eric and Alex Schneider Great grandchildren, Jackson and Brianna Armstrong. Many nieces and nephews. Dorsey was preceded in death by son, Jason Nicola, Brothers, Howard, and Bernard Nicola, sisters Ruth Lilly, Hilda Edwards, and Jo Anne Wantland. Dorsey was a loving father, grandfather, and friend, and had a kind and generous heart. He had a way of telling stories that made everyone laugh. He worked at Carling's Brewery for more than 30 years and made many lasting friendships there. He was a member of Shiloh Church of the Brethren. He spent many years enjoying his favorite past time, skydiving but was forced to give it up after an injury. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday September 2, from 1-4 pm and again on Sunday from 3- 4 pm the service hour. Per Dorsey's request cremation will be honored.
