Joseph H. Duckworth, age 91, a resident of Barbour County Highway, passed away Wednesday August 30, 2017 in Talbott’s Personal Care Home in Belington. He was born January 24, 1926 in Laurel Creek, WV a son of the late Jonathan and Chloe (Moats) Duckworth. He was united in marriage on April 2, 1948 to his wife of 69 years Delores (Haddix) Duckworth . Also surviving is a son Larry Duckworth and wife Amanda of Philippi Daughter, Shelia Tenney of Philippi Grandchildren, Denice (Tenney) Barkey and husband Keith, Danny Bryan Tenney and wife Melissa Three step grandchildren, Mike and Amy Braden and Jenny Brady Three great-grand children Five step-great grandchildren Brother, David Duckworth Canine Friend, Lucy Joseph was preceded in death by brother, John Duckworth, sisters, Abigail Stemple, Rosemary Duckworth, Lean Duckworth, Margaret Duckworth, Bridget Duckworth, son-in-law Danny G. Tenney. Joseph retired in 1988 from CSX Railroad as a trackman. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Bigelow Lodge #52 AF & AM having received a 50 year pin for membership. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Laurel Mountain VFW Post #410, American Legion Post #44, Local #1064 Brotherhood Maintenance of Way, and American Angus Association. He was a member of Mary’s Chapel Church Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 5-8 pm and on Sunday, September 3, from 8am-2pm the service hour with Pastor Rick Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Marsh Memorial Cemetery at Tacy with military honors being accorded.
