Ethel Jane Jones, age 82, of Rt. 1, Volga, WV passed away Friday January 21, 2011 at her home in Century #2, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She had been in declining health for the past year but death was unexpected. Mrs. Jones is proceeded in death by her parents, Murray and Dessie (Lantz) Ramsey, and her brother "Junior" Ramsey. Surviving is her husband of nearly 62 years, Mr. Burl B. Jones whom she married May 13, 1949 in Philippi, a daughter Carla and son-in-law Steve Minnick also of Rt. 1, Volga and a sister-in-law Mrs. Iris (Payne) Ramsey of Ashtabula, OH. Two nieces, two nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. She was born July 25, 1929 in Elkins, graduated from Philippi High School in 1948 and went to work for C & P Telephone as an operator on Philippi for two years, and then in Los Angeles, CA until 1967 when she returned to WV to start a business with her husband. She worked as secretary for the several business' the couple owned and operated until both retired in 2003. In earlier years Jane enjoyed league bowling at Barbour County Lanes then became an avid bingo player with her best friend Mrs. Virginia Landis until her health declined. She loved to work in her yard and garden, enjoyed reading, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Hall. Jane was a wonderful wife and mother, friend and neighbor, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday, January 24, 2011 from 1-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. the service hour with Rev. Robert Poling officiating.
