Mallie "Bub" Daugherty, age 87, a resident of Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital and a former resident of Rt. 1 Union Rd. passed away Thursday June 2, 2011 in Davis Memorial Hospital. He was born October 8, 1923 in Philippi a son of the late James and Blooma (Wilmoth)Daugherty. Bub leaves behind a niece Belinda Haught, four nephews Bob, Allen, Ed, and Jeff Daugherty. Bub had a brother Herschel Daugherty who retired from the Army and moved to Philippi in 1978 and lived here until his death in September of 2001. Bub enjoyed outside work. He helped many people cut their hay. He also worked for the State Road. He enjoyed playing his mothers organ. He always had a nice garden. After he became a patient at Mansfield Place, he spent many hours drawing pictures of his house and trees, and animals at his home. He really enjoyed sweets, candy and cakes, etc. He loved visiting the Pool Room in Philippi with his best friend Carl Johnson. A graveside service will be held on Monday June 6, at 11 am in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.
