Obituary of Mary Lee Maxwell
Mary Lee Maxwell, age 91 a resident of Sturmer St. in Belington passed away Sunday July 22, 2018, at Ruby Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. Mary Lee was born October 15, 1926 in Simpson, WV the daughter of the late Lawrence and Carmie (Marks) Whitehair. On August 19, 1943 she was united in marriage to Frank E. Maxwell who preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Maxwell of Belington
Lisa Kay (Todd) Boylen of Galloway
Mary Lee had one granddaughter, Lora (Brian) McElroy of Philippi
Three grandsons, Jeff (Delores) Snider of Clemtown
Todd (Courtney) Boylen, Jr. of Philippi
Travis Boylen of Galloway
Great-grandchildren- Nikki Paugh, Nathan Paugh and wife Bethany and Logan Boylen
Great great-grandchildren, Zoey and Cooper Ryan and Ryker Paugh
Mary Lee also opened her arms and heart to three foster grandchildren- Emory, Dylan and Ryker.
She is also survived by a very special niece, Peggy Jo (McNeff) Felscher
Mary Lee is also preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Terry Jo Snider; step-son, Eugene Maxwell; Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by four brothers, Hayward, Water, Robert and Roland Whitehair, two infant brothers, Coy and Harry Whitehair; Alberta Exline and Vieva McNeff.
Mary was employed by Carnegie Funeral Home for several years. She was an advocate of emergency services where she belonged to the Auxiliary at Flemington EMS, she supported Barbour Co. EMS, Belington EMS and Taylor Co. EMS as much as possible.
Mary Lee was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Her last words were “don’t worry about it”.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 4-8pm and on Wednesday, July 25th from 8am-1pm the service hour with Pastor Jon Villers officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpson Cemetery.
