Thomas (Tim) Waid, brother of Sam Waid posted a condolence

Pat Waid was a dear sister-in-law although we did not see much of each other in person over the past 30 years with me living in Texas. We did have phone conversations though. She was always smiling and could find humor in about anything. My own children remember with fondness their visit in their youth at the home of Uncle Sam and Aunt Pat of WV.
When Sam and Pat were married it was with a deep abiding love for one another that has stood the test of time without wavering. What a great example this has been to other family members! I was blessed to see this love in their home as they served one another and raised their children.
When finishing college at WVU in 1964 and dating my wife Carol Ann Berry of Weston it was Sam and Pat that would loan me their car to go see her because I had no car and couldn't afford one. You never forget these acts of kindness from your older brother and sister-in-law.
Pat was a huge support in love and kindness to her father in law and mother in law, Samuel T. and Francis Waid of Naples, FL. whom they visited frequently and were visited by them.
A lady of Christian faith Pat raised her daughter and adopted son on Christian values and principles which you can see in their lives and the lives of their grandchildren.
You have to admire a woman like Pat who loved learning and sacrificed to earned a masters degree in Nursing which she used in the service of others and support of her family. She was a shining example of hard work and the value of education.
This is the kind of person that represents the best of West Virginia.
I know I will see her on the other side of the vail and have a chance to know her as I did here in mortality. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we believe the marriage covenant does not have to end in mortality but can be preserved in immortality as well as the family unit. Sam and Pat deserve such as union for their faithful abiding love for one another. The resurrection is real and we will all benefit thanks to Christ's Atonement for all of us.

Mrs. Waid was my HOSA instructor 1999-2001. She gave me such a great knowledge of basic nursing fundamentals and always encouraged us to do our best. We kept her on her toes! I have often thought about her through the years, and wondered if she would remember me if I saw her. She was always my favorite. My prayers to those who hold her close.

I send my sincere condolences to Pat’s family and dearest friends. She will always hold a very special spot in my heart. I was one of Mrs Waid’s students whom she taught at PBHS. She served as my role model, inspiration, and mentor. Years later, I now have a career in advanced practice nursing, in which has stemmed from her. May you find comfort in knowing how much of an impact Pat made in many lives.

Mrs. Waid was a big reason why I graduated high school and her Health Assistant class. When I wanted to give up she pushed me through. May God's grace push her family through and give them the peace and comfort that they need.

What a dear lady this world has lost yet heaven gained. Mrs. Waid was my favorite teacher in high school, and impacted my life more than anyone could ever imagine. As she did many others. She had faith in me and was always an encourager. Please know that family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.
