Obituary of Danny J. Lewis
Danny J. Lewis, age 73, a resident of Philippi passed away Sunday November 25, 2018 in Ruby Memorial Hospital. Danny was born August 25, 1945 on Beverly, WV a son of the late Gilbert “Bo” and Eva N. (Simmons) Lewis. Danny was united in marriage to his loving wife on August 7, 1971 Patricia L. (Moats) Lewis who survives at home. Also surviving

Danny was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Wentz, and Shirley Coontz; and one brother, Richard Lewis. Danny worked for the City of Philippi from 1967 until his retirement in 2000 where he worked as water superintendent. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. Danny was at lifetime member of VFW Post #410 where he served as post commander, he was also a member of the American Legion Post #29 in Elkins, the Philippi Volunteer Fire Department, and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church where he served as Usher.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday November 27, from 3-8 pm. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation. Visitation will resume on Wednesday November 28, from 8 -10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Fr. Binu Sebastian as Celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Bryan Memorial Mausoleum with military honors being accorded.
