Obituary of Ronald Lewis Cleavenger
Ronald Lewis Cleavenger, age 65, a resident of Carter Ave. Philippi, passed away Thursday July 4, 2019 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. Ron was born August 7, 1953 in Philippi a son of the late Charles Dane and Betty Lou (Conderi) Cleavenger.
Ron is survived by-
Two sons, Brandon P. Delaney and wife Amanda of Florida
Tyson B. Propst and wife Amanda of PA
Three brothers, Charles “Eddie” Cleavenger
Michael Cleavenger both of Philippi
Mitchell Cleavenger and wife Nicole of Richmond, VA
Granddaughter, Charleigh Delaney
Ron worked at J & M Masonary, C & R Concrete, Bell Mining, Republic Steel Corp., Squire’s Creek Coal, and Fairfax Mining. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam Conflict from 1971-76. Ron was a member of the American Legion Post #44.
Ron received his certificate of Baptism of September 16, 2007, his certificate of New Birth November 16, 2008, Certificate of Appreciation from the American Legion Post #44 on May 25, 2009, Firmenship 2 from West Virginia University March 27, 1988, Marine NCO Leadership School, six months of mine machinery and repair school, and had 1,082 hours of metal fabrication and welding.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday July 8, from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday July 9, from 8 am- 12:30 pm the service hour with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the WV National Cemetery with military honors being accorded.
