Obituary of Virginia Boyles
Virginia Lindsey Boyles, age 84, a resident of Philippi, WV passed away Sunday July 5, 2009, in Ruby Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born July 30, 1924 in Philippi, a daughter of the late Sherman and Nell (Kittle) Lindsey.
She was a graduate of Philippi High School and West Virginia University with a degree in Public School Music. She taught in Point Marion, PA and retired from Noble Local Schools in Sarahsville, OH where she taught kindergarten through high school.
She was preceded in death by her husband, "Charlie" Burton Boyles after forty years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Dr. S. Brance Lindsey of Temple, TX
She is survived by four children; Dr. Stephen L. and wife Kate Boyles of Columbus, OH
Margaret and husband Frank Wise of Burnsville, OH
Jenny and husband Ed Thurman of Shelby, OH
Jane Fleisher of Philippi
Grandchildren surviving are Charles W. and Adelaide Virginia Boyles of Columbus, OH, Laura and husband Cody Britt of Shelby, OH, Molly Thurman and Zach Thurman of Cincinnati, OH and Elizabeth Fleisher of Philippi.
Virginia was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #41, PEO Sisterhood, Chapter C, the Clionian Literary Club, the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution in which she was Regent for five years, and the Barbour County retired teachers association. She attended the Crim Memorial United Methodist Church where she was involved in several music activities.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi, on Tuesday July 7, from 5-8:00 p.m. The Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday July 8, from 8-9:30 a.m. at which time Mrs. Boyles will be moved to the Crim United Methodist Church to lie in state from 10-11:00 a.m. the service hour. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Alicia Rapking officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
